Duodecimo. Quarter-bound in red morocco with matching stamped cloth boards. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers. 

Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine (1790–1869) was a French writer, poet, orientalist, and politician, who was instrumental in founding the Second Republic. The first edition of Jocelyn was published in 1836, and has been celebrated for its masterful use of French poetic forms.
