Duodecimo. Full flame-calf binding, panels and edges gilt-stamped, dentilles in blind; endpapers and all edges marbled. Presentation inscription on the half-title. Very good condition, but with chip to the crown and scuffing to the foot as shown; also some foxing to flyleaves. Otherwise sound passim.

James Anthony Froude (1818–1894), was an English historian, novelist, biographer, and editor of Fraser’s Magazine. This volume includes the essays ‘Sea Studies’, ‘On the Uses of a Landed Gentry’, and ‘Leaves from a South African Journal’.
